Japanese Rose is a novel inspired by a piece of the history of Japan's controversial war. A knot of history that was silenced for decades and never really recognized or accepted as true. Until one day a journalist from NHK archives found irregularities in one camp in the war, the fact of the existence of female kamikaze pilot in Japan. With the help of a reliable historian, the investigation led to the name, Rika Kobayashi aka Sayuri Miyamoto.
The story begins after the Japanese Sayuri managed to destroy Pearl Harbor. America and its allies to strike back with a vengeance and waged war expanded. The Japanese government then imposed conscription for all men each. On one side is a privilege to be able to defend the homeland. On the other hand, the war has brought men and divided families. Each family is required to sacrifice son, husband, and father to the emperor and nation.
Starting from Hiro's departure, his younger brother, Sayuri decided to engage in a war that has further weakened the position of Japan. She became a nurse with his best friend at one hospital in Tokyo. Fury of war had more casualties, including his sister and her friend. Swathed in anger and revenge were outstanding, Sayuri vowed to avenge the deaths of his loved ones to be a kamikaze pilot. With all the effort, it was disguised as a boy and managed to realize that desire. On the day of Sayuri will crash the plane into a target enemy, things happen and change his fate line.
